You have probably heard of the song “Sexy Can I” for it has dominated the airwaves for some time. Everyone was hooked on the song and they were crazy about Ray J, the R&B singer behind the single. It was a smash hit, but not comparable to the fame gained by his sex tape with Kim Kardashian, daughter of lawyer Robert Kardashian, who is best known for being OJ Simpson’s lawyer.
Ray J, who was born William Raymond Norwood, Jr., is the younger brother of another R&B artist, Brandy. He started as an actor, playing a role in “The Sinbad Show” in his younger years. He started recording in the year 1995 and the following year, he released his first album “Everything You Want”. Since then, he has continued success, working with big names such as R. Kelly, Rodney Jerkins and Timbaland.
In year 2006, however, Ray J with her then girlfriend Kim Kardashian, made a home sex tape. There were some video sneak peeks distributed some time later, and both parties say they do not know who could have caused the leak, although there are speculations that Ray J did it to gain fame. Both filed a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment, who wanted to sell the video to the public, which they will entitle “Kim Kardashian, Superstar”. Kardashian then settled with the company and asked to be paid $5 million for the video. The following year after he taped the video, he was enjoying success with the first single out of his new album. Everyone loved “Sexy Can I”, with rapper Yung Berg, and he just continued to be successful.
Ray J is said to be enjoying his reputation for being a sex symbol. As a matter of fact, he is currently starring on his own reality show in VH1, “For the Love of Ray J”. This show is his search for his next sex tape partner, and the winner turned out to be Joanna Hernandez, or known as “Cocktail”.
